1/25/13: NCR

Due to the weather conditions, I've decided we should skip Rock Creek Park and head to the good old NCR for our long run this weekend! For those of you that don't know it, this is the premier running trail around Baltimore: cool, shady and flat. It will be especially cool this weekend with morning temperatures in the teens :)

Since it will be especially frigid, my suggestion is to meet an hour later than usual and let temperatures climb a bit. Thus, let's plan to meet at 9:00 AM at the NCR Paper Mill Road parking lot:

This route needs no explanation. It's a simple out and back along a straight line. There are mile markers alongside the trail, just keep in mind that since we're starting at mile 0.5, add 1/2 mi to every marker for accurate distance.

Marathon training group: 19-20 Miles
Half-marathon training group: 11 Miles

  • There are restrooms at mi 0.5, 3, and 6.5.
  • There are water fountains at the start as well as in Monkton (Mi 6.5), but they may be frozen over.
  • If you bring water, carry it close to your body since it will freeze in a handheld bottle.
  • Don't forget to sign-up for carpooling!
